Artist's Comments

"...between 1962 and 1971, american warplanes poured 18 million gallons of the poison onto vietnamese jungles to to destroy food and cover for vientnamese fighters. but the destructive power the chemists wrought was not confined to plants. today, perhaps three million vietnamese suffer cancer or birth deformities as a result.
the horrors of agent orange are all the more sickening when revealed in closer detail. in hospitals in ho chi minh city, there are children with heads the shape of warped gourds, missing parts of their brains. others missing eyes or limbs, their stumps twisted like tangled vines..." ~ dee hon, adbusters 74
it is always the innocent that truly suffer.
victims tried to gain compensation from america, the court dismissed all the evidence, and claimed that agent orange hasnt caused more then skin irritations.
my drawing is from a photograph of a vietnamese baby girl, with deformities cause by the poison of agent orange. look at the drawing, does that look like a skin irritation to you?
"...lawyers have argued that if the agent orange victims win, it will set a dangerous precedent that hinders how america wages war..."
so americans see war as a good thing, because you can make a mess but you dont have to clean it up? that disgusts me, its pathetic and theres no logic in that, its a juvenile way of thinking. america needs to grow up, and own up to their mistakes. there can be no justice if people truly think that way.
so heres a question where is the justice? it doesnt just stop with vietnamese victims it goes on and on to the middle east as well. something major has to be done, people need to find morality, it seems to be lost in the american society.

Thanks, P.
It is indeed sad the evils that we do to each other.

i kinda went on a major rant there, i was just so upset with what i read. i dont want people to think that its just america who thinks that way, in truth it is everyone, noone seems to care about their fellow man anymore...it disappoints me.
thanks steve

Don't close your eyes to the flip side -- the countless unsung acts of decency and kindness that reach across the hurts and chasms.
God bless you, my friend.

most of the unsung acts need to be sung, for i find they are the truly tragic tales of this world. and the only reason they are unsung is because someone hushed the singing.
someone needs to raise their voice...im doing what i can, just wish i had the resources to do more.
and may he bless you to steve

This is, indeed, a strong piece. Definitely sending the message you were shooting for.

It's true, I mean look at everything that happened after Hiroshima. The US always looks for the easy way out then doesn't clean up.

Very strong piece and well done with the shading and everything.

I'm floored. By sorrow and anger. A very strong piece.

once again your daring yet so expressive illustrations and drawings stun me ! i spent like an age just looking at it and admiring its every detail ,, the hair , the skin , speaks so much of its cause. i know alot of people would appreciate what you've done esp those who were hurt by these bombings. seriously gurl your ability to express your feelings and emotions on paper in awe inspiring and amazing ! wish you all the best !

sorry i havent been able to comment lately but i was away for certain reasons .... i checked ur gallery and this was the first to catch my thoughts ... will make sure to comment on others as am sure they are as stunning as this one!

best luck and regards
